A Change Can Happen

My name is Emily Stickland and I am the founder of "A Change Can Happen". Back in November I realised that in order to prevent the future from repeating the pasts mistakes, it was important to promote equality, understanding and respect in our next generations. As a child most of my education came from what I read in books which led me to the idea of creating a series that tackles ten socially relevant topics and introduce them to children through various artistic mediums. I was lucky enough to know very talented artists who then spread the word of the project. We are now a collective of ten artists with styles ranging from sketching, print, watercolour, graffiti and photography. Each book shows these artists collaborating styles to make it as interactive as possible. With such dense topics the stories and illustrations need to be as fun as possible. Non- Profit In order to truly promote respect and understanding we needed to lead by example. That's why 100% of each books profits will go to an Irish charity linked with the book theme. We are entirely non-profit and financed our printing and distribution through donations and crowd funding. Who am I? I have an (MSc) in Marketing Practice and a (BA) in Politics and International Relations from the University of Limerick. I have worked with several NGOs over the years such as Amnesty International and Kiva Microcredit Financing. Helping with campaigns, fundraising and training. I went to school in Paris and lived in Beijing teaching Chinese primary school children. Most recently I received diplomas in Business Management and Press Release and Publications.
