Aegean Motorway is the Concessionaire for the Maliakos-Kleidi section of PATHE Motorway in Greece (A1/ TERN) extending over 230km, from Raches I/C to Kleidi I/C. A major infrastructure PPP project, the Maliakos-Kleidi Motorway, once completed, will constitute a safe, modern, high speed motorway linking Athens and Thessaloniki, offering drivers enhanced safety levels and high quality of services. Since 2007, when the Concession Agreement was signed with the Greek State, the company has been entrusted with the design, financing, operation, maintenance, operation and exploitation of the road, constructing the new sections and maintaining/ upgrading the existing ones. Currently at approx. 95% of the construction progress, works at different stages of completion include the largest road tunnel of the Balkans (at Tempi), 20 bridges, 5 new Motorist Stations, 3 I/Cs and other structures. The company’s focus on road safety remains a constant parameter underpinning all its initiatives, works and efforts – Aegean Motorway is the only Greek company recognized for its coordinated action on road safety certified for its Road Safety Management System for the Motorway (as per ISO 39000:2012). This is not the only Certificate that the company holds – Aegean Motorway is certified for its Managing Systems covering Energy, SA, Occupational H&S, Environment and Quality. The company has also been honored with the Hellenic Responsible Business Award and the Award on “Behavioral Risk Management” by the H&S Awards. On the social front, Aegean Motorway supports varied causes through its CSR programs across the Prefectures that the Maliakos-Kleidi Motorway crosses. These include food banks, schools, and institutions as well as sponsorship for events or conferences or public awareness campaigns. On the commercial front, the company via its dedicated electronic toll collection service e-way offers discount packages for frequent users of the motorway.
