Age Action

Age Action is a charity which promotes positive ageing and better policies and services for older people. Working with, and on behalf of, older people we aim to make Ireland the best place in the world in which to grow older. Getting Started - our Getting Started programme is a learning and awareness programme encouraging older people to use computers and internet. Our goal is promoting digital inclusion and positive ageing by providing opportunities for older people to use computers, internet and mobile phones. We teach people to use the internet, providing a personalised approach with one-to-one tutoring. We always need volunteers to help as tutors on this programme. The Care & Repair Programme carries out minor repairs for older people. It is run by Age Action volunteers and staff in Cork, Dublin and Galway. In addition 34 Community Partners deliver the service throughout the country. The aim of the Programme is to enable older and vulnerable people to remain in their own homes, in their own communities, living as independently as possible, through the improvement of their housing conditions and their level of comfort and security. This service is provided free of charge. As with every other charity we need funds to continue to provide our services. Our Fundraising Department come up with some creative and fun events you can get involved with and support. Our website and facebook page are a great way to see what is going on.
