techna, in 1991, pioneered the it business in eastern india by jump-starting the first software technology park (stp) and becoming the top exporter 5 years in a row. at its peak in early 2000, techna (usa 200 people + india 400 people) was valued by tmp worldwide at $200 million for its innovative technology driven solutions in automating legacy migration (patented), creating the first 3-tier client server system in use, and as a key player in internet middleware technologies. however, techna’s assets were sold after the dot-com bust and 9/11 for lower value in 2002 we are now embarking on the next generation techna with our proven clairvoyance regarding technology and business trends but with a distinct exit plan in 3 years via strategic sale of assets so as not to repeat our mis-timing of exit in the past. the gist of our strategy is to ride the mobile internet wave which we project will dominate the pc based internet successes of the past by several orders of magnitude, particularly in the emerging countries. we plan to penetrate two market segments in sequence that we have studied closely since january in india using technology and content differentiators. these are the education (school and vocational tutoring segment) and loyalty (consumer rewards aggregation segment) markets,. in both markets, techna-india will have special offshoring relationships with funded ventures in the usa but will be free to serve others.
