Traditionally indoor air purification has been done in two different ways: 1) Mechanical filtration (HEPA- filters) or 2) electrical filtration in which particles are collected to collector plates and there is no need for filters. Both these techniques however face a BIG PROBLEM - low air flow through the air purifier. What this mean is that current air purifiers based on the old technologies, cannot produce enough clean air to properly clean the air in a medium or larger sized room. The only option when using air purifiers based on old technologies is to use several air purifiers in one room, which is neither cost effective nor practical and worse of all, the noise level becomes unbearable.
