Alaska Academy of Physician Assistants

The Alaska Academy of Physician Assistants is made up primarily of physician assistants practicing in Alaska and is dedicated to providing Alaskans the highest quality of medical care. We are committed to enhancing the practice environment of physician assistants and providing continuing medical education both to our members and to the public. The AKAPA is a dynamically changing organization, and is a strong voice in Alaskan medicine. Recent accomplishments of the Academy include appointment of a physician assistant (PA) to the State Medical Board, changes updating and facilitating the State licensing and collaborative process, and changes to the prescriptive authority of physician assistants in Alaska. We maintain a close affiliation with PA students and offer annual scholarships. We are especially proud that our Academy was the AAPA Constituent Organization Award of Excellence winner for 2005.
