We promote research of high scientific value and purpose in order to improve the medical care and health of all New Zealanders. 100% of all donations go to research - NOT our overheads! How can that be possible? We are endowed by a very generous benefactor and that enables us to fund our working expenses, like salaries, completely separately from research. We're largest independent funding agency for medical research in New Zealand outside of government. We have been providing medical research funding support for more than 55 years and currently distribute over $3m annually, over $65m since our inception. Our supporters enable us to fund research across the complete spectrum: from basic blue skies research, to clinical trials and patient care. New Zealand has a very low per capita investment in medical research. It is an investment with risk, but also plays a key part in our economy and is an investment in our future.
