Artemis Rowing Club

Why Rowing? You dont have to be a proven athlete to give it a shot. Rowers come from all backgrounds and all levels of athletic ability. Rowing is about commitment and hard work, but from that commitment and hard work comes untold benefits. You will get into the best shape of your life. You will create friendships that last a lifetime. You will join a unique community of athletes who hold a close bond forged from the collective experiences of the sport. For those who excel at the sport, there is the potential for college scholarships. NCAA colleges offer thousands of rowing scholarships each year! Rowing can open doors to prestigious schools for both men and women. Why Artemis? Artemis draws from a wide variety of schools located in many East Bay cities, including Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Piedmont and Lafayette. Our boathouse is centrally located in the Jack London Aquatic Center, just south of Jack London Square along the Oakland Estuary. Our coaches believe in developing our rowers safely and properly while focusing on developing core strength and precise stroke technique. Our newest rowers begin training in smaller sculling (two oar) boats in order to foster symmetrical development of strength and to develop advanced boat handling skills. As our rowers develop, they progress into racing shells and are exposed to regatta racing at a level commensurate with their skills. Ultimately, our goal is to place our crews in the annual Junior National Regatta. Artemis recruits new members throughout the year with registration periods in the Fall, Spring, and Summer. Whenever you start, we teach you everything you need to know. If youre interested in joining Artemis, the first step is visiting the Boathouse at JLAC, meeting the coach, and watching a practice. See what rowing is all about!
