I am very good at research and at reducing large amounts of information to solid market entry and brand plans and marketing programmes that achieve sales growth and do it profitably. I am able to apply sophisticated analyses and models to develop plans in a way that gives my clients and their teams the shared confidence that leads to well-coordinated NPD, marketing and sales programmes and solid successes. One client put it thus: “Simon was very helpful and had some interesting ways of looking at the issues and putting together a strategy in “layman’s” terms.” I tell it as it is. I gather the facts and figures and present my conclusions in a rational way. Sometimes that gives added impetus to a plan, but it can lead to a recommendation to not proceed, as in the case of this client: “I first commissioned Simon to produce a report on a segment of the UK water market that we believed would be a good market for us. Simon produced a report that showed that he had spoken to the correct people in each water company and that he has asked the correct questions. In summary his advice was to not enter the targeted segment. More importantly, Simon identified and validated with in the same sector, significant opportunities that were highly lucrative for us.” I enjoy new challenges and travel and I am well up for putting the plans I develop into action. I have had central roles in many overseas market expansions including Envirotech’s (now DCC’s Enva) in the UK market, Advanced Innovations’ into the US, Canadian, UK, German and Israeli markets, the rise of Dubarry of Ireland’s sailing boot to become the leader in its category in the UK, Holland and Germany and the establishment of BCD Engineering’s global skid business and DPS Engineering’s Singapore-based training business.
