ASSOC NGO was established in 1995, in Baia Mare,Maramures , Romania as an organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable people. Currently, is among the most active national organizations in the field of social economy and the provision of social services, with the long-term objective of facilitating access to the labor market for people with disabilities, the elderly, young people who leave the child protection system, Roma, families single parents. In recent years, ASSOC has managed important projects and focused on the development of social and entrepreneurial activities, transmitting the knowledge accumulated in the 23 years of activity to other NGOs, but also to public institutions. The more than 60 projects carried out by ASSOC members with the help of public and private financiers (The French Health Association, Enfance et Vie, EU, PHARE, POSDRU, POCU, POCA, DFID, USAID, ANPDC, DGASPC Maramures, Baia Mare City Hall, Rotary) they improved the quality of social services, but also of life in the communities where they were present. ASSOC will continue to improve its services, because our goal is to develop social economy programs that allow vulnerable people - with disabilities or in the third and fourth years - to acquire as much autonomy as possible and not be totally dependent on social services. From the experience of 20 years in this field, I have found that only in this way can it succeed.
