Association of Indian Rating Agencies (AIRA)

Association of Indian Rating Agencies (AIRA) is an industry body of SEBI registered credit rating agencies. Registered as a section 8 non-profit in April 2021, the Company aims to work together with SEBI, RBI, MCA, AMFI, IBA, stock exchanges and investor and issuer community to enhance the reach and standards of credit ratings in India. AIRA will work towards educating users of credit ratings. The founding members of AIRA are Acuité Ratings & Research Limited, Brickwork Ratings India Private Limited, CARE Ratings Limited, and INFOMERICS Valuation & Rating Private Limited. Three other rating agencies are expected to join AIRA soon. Mr Suraj Pratap Malik, whole time director at Infomerics Ratings, was appointed the Chairman of AIRA with effect from July 2023. Mr Ajay Mahajan, MD & CEO of CARE Ratings was the chairman of AIRA during the period June 2021 - May 2022. Mr Sankar Chakraborti, MD & CEO of Acuité Ratings was the Chairman of AIRA during the period July 2022 - June 2023.
