The Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation Inc. is the only national body dedicated to improving the lives of people living with Alopecia Areata and their families. We have three core missions. - Support: provide support to those with all forms of Alopecia Areata, and their families; - Awareness: inform the public and create awareness of Alopecia Areata; - Research: to support research into a cure or acceptable treatment for Alopecia Areata Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune condition which causes hair loss to the scalp and body. It can affect anyone of any race, gender or age, though it most commonly presents during early childhood. There is currently no cure or acceptable treatment. Though it is not life threatening, it can have immense emotional and psychological impact, affecting self-image, self-esteem, confidence and mental health. Alopecia Areata... It's life changing.
