The mission of the Autism Society San Diego is to improve the lives of all affected by autism. Autism Society San Diego serves parents, relatives, friends, advocates, medical professionals and educators throughout San Diego County and beyond. We promote meaningful participation and self-determination for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We strive to promote lifelong access and opportunities for all individuals within the autism spectrum to be fully participating, included members of their community. We are keenly aware of the large wave of young children who are rapidly approaching adulthood. We provide information, referrals and support to families of individuals with autism, teachers, physicians, and other professionals working in the field of autism. We promote and fund research into the causes of autism. The Society serves as the voice and resource of the local autism community through increased public awareness efforts, educational and recreational community activities. Our goal is to treat all persons with autism with respect and dignity and as valued members of our community.
