Autism Sussex is an independent, not for profit organisation and registered charity, whose aim is to provide a range of opportunities for children, young people and adults with autistic spectrum conditions and/or Asperger syndrome. We provide a range of services which are autism-friendly, individualistic, structured, predictable and low-arousal, which ensures that service users are better able to manage their anxieties, stress and social interactions more successfully. Café des Arts is a pioneering Social Enterprise managed by Autism Sussex. Based in the popular seaside town of Hastings, Café des Arts is a fine dining cafe and respected art gallery. It provides people with autism an opportunity to undertake work-based learning and to showcase and sell their art work. The charity aims to enable its service-users to play as full a part in their community as appropriate to each individual. Emphasis is placed on an enabling role to foster independence and self-determination.
