We are a company of offshore experienced, hands on project managers, structural engineers and naval architects based in Aberdeen, working primarily within the offshore oil and renewable energy industry: including floating offshore wind. We devise and exploit simple, economic, carefully thought out, reliable solutions to the problems posed in floating developments and particularly in floating wind developments. It is our philosophy to work in a close relationship with clients in order to achieve common objectives. We provide offshore loading systems and have a complete system, based on 1800m of 6” high grade Manuli hose, available for lease or sale. Axis is developing its Tension Leg Buoy (TLB™) for the Floating Offshore Wind (FOW) sector. The TLB™ represents a life-cycle approach to offshore wind, covering turbine dynamics, installation, operation monitoring & re-powering. Its potential starts where fixed foundations end, at about 50m water depth, and extends into depths of hundreds of meters. High-level environmental benefits of the TLB™ include its relatively small seabed footprint, no need for piling or jack-up vessels and a simple decommissioning process. Financial modelling of an entire offshore windfarm using the TLB™ system has determined a LCOE 30% less than other FOW designs and comparable with offshore fixed installations.
