Baobab Health(BHT) Trust is a Malawian non profit making organisation founded in 2001 with a vision to lead the improvement of health through Information and Communication Technology in the Developing World. BHT acheives this vision by building, deploying and maintaining robust and sustainable health care systems suitable for the developing world in collaboration with the Malawi Governement( Ministry of health) and the health care workers. BHT develops software for user friendly touchscreens placed in hospitals and clinics around the country. These touchscreen- based software modules help health care workers manage patient records that are used at three levels: 1. Patient Level, where the patient has clear information on diagnosis and treatment. 2. Health Care Level, where the treating nurse or clinician has an overview of past medical history and can therefore improve individual patient health. It also helps health workers follow national protocols thereby helping them deliver better care to patients. 3.National Level, where data is agreegated at Ministry of Health level to help form policies and have better planning on large scale programs( e.g. purchase of ART- medication)
