Founded in 2004, Bay Area Parent Leadership Action Network (PLAN) develops the leadership and builds the power of parents to transform schools so that all children achieve student success. PLAN believes that every students deserves a quality education that supports them to achieve their dreams and student success. We believe that it is our collective responsibility to organize for a new culture and power structure in schools and districts so that families of color are welcomed and respected as assets integral to systemic change. This is critical because we believe that school transformations require all stakeholders to be decision makers in aligning investments with student need, staffing and supports to provide a quality experience for everyone. Every day, we train and organize parents, particularly those residing in low-income and immigrant communities, to believe that their voices matter, while we develop their skills and knowledge that will strengthen their capacity to advocate for the changes in their schools necessary to turn struggling schools into thriving schools. We have three programs: Leaders for Engaged and Active Parents (LEAP) Program Parent Organizing Program Transformative Capacity Building Program For more information, visit our website at www.parentactionnet.org
