BC AdventureSmart

BC AdventureSmart, and its suite of five programs, is a national prevention program that started in BC in 2004 by the BC Search and Rescue Association, focused on reaching residents and visitors to BC, who participate in outdoor recreational activities. Our objective is to increases awareness helping to reduce the number and severity of search-and-rescue incidents in the province of BC, working closely with the 79 SAR groups consisting of 3,000 SAR member volunteers who respond to over 1,900 SAR incidents annually. In order to provide the largest possible number of British Columbians and visitors to BC with consistent and relevant safety information, and to ensure that opportunities to engage the public are maximized, BC AdventureSmart and its partners take a broad, encompassing approach to the delivery of adaptable safety information in-person, and online. Through the collaborative efforts of our various partners like Emergency Management BC and the BC Search and Rescue Association, regional assistants and over 500 BC AdventureSmart volunteer outdoor educators, we're dedicated to encouraging participants to “Get informed and go outdoors”.
