BetterEvaluation is an international collaboration for improving the theory and practice of evaluation. We believe that Better Evaluation leads to better decisions and better results for people and the planet. We work with evaluators, evaluation managers, and evaluation users to co-create and share knowledge about choosing and using evaluation methods and processes. We support people to apply this knowledge to their particular circumstances, and to share their experiences and further contribute to learning how to do evaluation better. BetterEvaluation supports three interconnected areas of activity: evaluation practice, evaluation capacity strengthening and research and development in evaluation. Our website - www.betterevaluation.org - is the largest knowledge platform on M&E activities, frameworks, and systems in the world. BetterEvaluation was founded by four partners: (RMIT University, ODI, ILAC initiative of CGIAR, and Pact). The BetterEvaluation project and website administration was was based at RMIT University (Australia) for its first four years of operation, and then the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG). In 2019 we launched as an independent not-for-profit and registered charity, Better Evaluation Ltd. based in Melbourne, Australia and operating globally. On December 1, 2021, the BetterEvaluation (BE) platform, betterevaluation.org was transferred to the care of Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI). GEI is an inclusive global partnership, supported by a multi-donor trust fund, co-chaired by the World Bank’s Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) and the United Nations Development Programme’s Independent Evaluation Office (IEO). Following the successful transfer, BE Ltd entered solvent voluntary liquidation on December 14 and will cease all operations on December 31, 2021.
