BGS Utilities

BGS Utilities are a national multi utility connections company working with a wide range of the UK’s top commercial construction firms, local authorities, housing associations and national housebuilders. Established in 1998 and incorporated in 2003, BGS Utilities started life as Birchwood Gas Services, but quickly had to rebrand to BGS with the addition of water and electricity service delivery. Originally, BGS’ activity was to assist in the installation of gas services, and making getting connected as easy as possible. Being customer focussed in a market where the customers’ satisfaction is often overlooked, we were quickly asked if we could provide the same service with electricity and water connections – and we obliged! Our easy to use multi-utility service proved very popular, and further growth followed soon after. The next step for BGS following the deregulation of the utilities sector was attaining Lloyds accreditation- combining our experience of customer service and easy to use approach with in house engineering. Becoming Lloyds accredited allowed us to have almost full control of the utility connection process, and in turn rely less on 3rd parties. This allowed us to provide even better service, flexibility, control of safety practices and price. Once we had more control of price, we began to be able to compete more effectively for large multi-lay housing estates and deliver them successfully, in addition to the site preparation and feasibility works we had already been providing for this type of project. At BGS Utilities, remaining committed to our original focus on customer service has served us well. It has helped us stand out from our competition and see the controlled growth that we are looking to continue into the future.
