Black Ant Films is led by Alana Tompson, an award winning cinematographer and editor based in Melbourne, Australia. Alana has carved her path as a hard-working media professional with a strong sense of duty to the planet. Her first job was as a camera operator filming for Animal Planet's network television series, Whale Wars. She spent 100 days at sea documenting the high seas clashes between the Japanese Whaling Fleet and the conservation group, Sea Shepherd. Since then she founded Black Ant Films and has worked with clients such as Melbourne Fashion Festival, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Elle Magazine, Belle Magazine, Google, Ferrari, Barcroft Media, Alpha Romeo, Yarra City Council, GQ Magazine, Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week, Australian Nursing & Midwifery Federation, Polyglot Theatre Company, Big hArt, Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria, Screen Producers Australia, PETA, Evian Water and many more. In 2017 Alana won three awards at the Houston Worldfest International Film Festival for three short films she shot in Texas, U.S.A. In 2019 her first feature length film, Defend, Conserve, Protect won Best International Feature Documentary at the American Documentary Film Festival.
