Astronomic auctions for ancient wines recovered from the bottom of the sea, skepticism from inside the winemaking industry, and the fantastic evolution attributed to these wines, motivated us to create Crusoe Treasure. Crusoe Treasure began its investigation in October 2009 with 27 different wineries from 14 Denominations of Origin throughout Spain. The products were carefully compared and analyzed by our team of expert enologists. For more than two years, we studied the evolution of wine and the astonishing results achieved by aging wine underwater, on the bottom of the sea. At the same time independent laboratory studies were performed by Excell Ibérica, located in Logroño, La Rioja, by Doctor of Enology, Antonio Palacions. The surprising results of these analyses served to confirm what we had discovered. Crusoe Treasure, the first underwater wine in the world was born. Our bodega, located beneath the waves in the beautiful 'Bay of Plentzia' in Northern Spain rests at a depth of between 15 and 20 meters. It is specifically designed to attract marine life and create a unique ecosystem. At this very moment our wines are resting and maturing in a completely natural environment along with over 1.500 species of marine life. It's what sets our wines apart. Not only do we achieve an exceptional product, but we do it utilizing the energy og the sea, and in return we also give back to the sea.
