The British Theatre Playhouse, founded in 2004, is a long-standing member of the British Chamber of Commerce and the European Chamber of Commerce. Priding itself on ‘bringing you the best of live British entertainment’, the company has since produced and presented a series of highly successful British productions in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and the UK. Our first production in October 2004 was Oscar Wilde's "The Importance Of Being Earnest" at Raffles Hotel Singapore. Cecilia Leong-Faulkner is the founding Managing Director of the company, with two Advisors to assist in the growth and the development of the British Theatre Playhouse. The British Theatre Playhouse was honoured to have the presence of former President of Singapore, Mr S.R. Nathan and the First Lady as well as former Minister Mentor, Mr Lee Kuan Yew and Mrs Lee and Emeritus Senior Minister, Mr Goh Chok Tong and Mrs Goh in the audience. The British Theatre Playhouse has Patron in Singapore: the British High Commissioner, H.E. Scott Wightman. In Malaysia, our Patron is H.E. Victoria Treadell. British Theatre Playhouse pride ourselves on high standards equivalent to London’s West End and offer UK casts comprising prominent stage, television and film actors. Some notable plays we have put up since our founding days include Alan Ayckbourn's "How The Other Half Loves", "Private Lives that was nominated as Singapore Tourism Board 2006 Best Leisure Event, "Yes, Prime Minister" and “The Vortex starring Hollywood actress Jane Seymour OBE”. The British Theatre Playhouse is internationally focused with a British connection and has a UK branch office in order to work more closely with established British playwrights, writers, actors, musicians, directors, musical directors, set and costume designers. The British Theatre Playhouse is committed to give back to society through high profile charity gala events to raise funds for the less fortunate.
