Designing and deploying enterprise software is complex, expensive and risky. The complexity starts with defining business needs in a precise and unambiguous manner. Billions of dollars are spent annually doing software design in a applications that produce unstructured, inconsistent, one-off deliverables. A typical software engineering specification produces a mountain of paper that is imprecise, quickly out-of-date and rarely reusable beyond the project duration.  Our mission is to help organisations implement enterprise technology solutions more effectively by reinventing the design process for business applications. We offer a methodology and toolset for developing precise and flexible models of a business operation in the form of dynamic, enduring, semantic business “ontologies”. Business stakeholders “engineer” a model of what they want and IT “manufactures” from these designs.  A CAPSICUM Business Architecture Model simulates a business operation in a precise conceptual ontology that guides the development of enterprise applications. In much the same way that traditional manufacturing processes rely on detailed engineering specifications and drawings, a CAPSICUM model provides similarly detailed precision for software designs.  CAPSICUM domain models are highly reusable, meaning that large parts of any model will provide a reusable template for other organisations in the same industry. We have developed a growing library of reusable domain models mapped to industry standards and reference models for the Finance, Health, Government and Media industries.
