The collective of natural geographical aspects including climate, location, aspect and soil plays a leading role in the distinctive provenance and personality of these wines distinguished by their unique origin. The high altitude, rich volcanic soils and orientation of the sun to the coffee trees in Bugisu mean the concept of terroir for wine is similar in the coffee industry. The high quality of the Bugisu arabica coffee has been well known for decades. In recent years increasing numbers of coffee buyers are appreciating that the soil, the elevation and the climate in Uganda create outstanding coffees.
