Our Mission Seymour will be an affordable residential community that provides excellent services and attractive amenities. The City will be characterized by: A local economy that supports a variety of businesses; Well-maintained parks for youth, adult, and senior entertainment; Water and sewer systems that provide good service at low cost to taxpayers; and Diverse housing opportunities affordable to and serving the needs of all segments of the population. Background The City of Seymour was incorporated in 1879 and then again in 1906. We are a Type A government. The City Departments are comprised of Street, Water/Sewer, Reverse Osmosis Plant, Electrical, Parks & Recreation including the Salt Fork Estates Municipal Golf Course and Seymour City Pool, Police & Fire Departments, Administration, Municipal Court and Economic Development. The City fully funds each of these departments. A 1% sales tax is received into the general fund while the remaining 1% sales tax goes to a Special Hospital District. We are the only town in Baylor County, serving 2,700 people within the city limits, estimated 3,600 county wide, and a service area population estimated at 6,700.
