Coastal Foodshed

BACKGROUND: Coastal Foodshed grew out of the work of Mass in Motion New Bedford (MiM NB). Due to operational and funding restrictions under MiM NB, we created Coastal Foodshed as a way to sustain and expand existing programs, as well as develop new programs that meet the needs of the community. VISION: We envision the Southcoast region to support a robust local food economy where residents are engaged in creating a sustainable food community, and local farmers are thriving. MISSION: Our mission is to strengthen the local food economy by making it easier for growers to sell, and consumers to buy, healthy, affordable, local foods. Coastal Foodshed works to increase public awareness and knowledge of health, nutrition, and sustainable agriculture, and to improve access to healthy, locally grown fresh food in under-served, low-income communities.
