Consolidated Fire District No. 2 serves the communities of Northeast Johnson County Kansas by providing emergency operations, emergency medical services, fire prevention and public education with pride and professionalism. CFD2 has a Class 1 ISO Public Protection Class rating. ISO (the Insurance Services Office) upgraded this rating from a Class 3 effective Nov. 1, 2015 based upon a comprehensive evaluation of the fire suppression capabilities of the Fire District. A class 1 PPC rating is the best rating that can be given to a fire service organization in the United States and a very small percentage of organizations have achieved this rating. ISO evaluates the fire suppression capabilities of fire organizations across the country according to a uniform set of criteria in areas such as; emergency communications, equipment, staffing, training, station location, operations, community risk reduction and water supply. Information gathered is used to assign PPC ratings. These ratings are utilized by many insurance companies in establishing commercial and residential property insurance rates, with lower premiums generally given to those with better fire protection.
