Coon Creek Watershed District (CCWD) is a special unit of government in Anoka County charged with maintaining a 134-mile public ditch system to provide drainage while preventing flooding and surface water pollution. We are located in central Anoka County, Minnesota and manage public surface water for the city of Coon Rapids as well as for parts of Fridley, Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Ham Lake, Andover, and Columbus. We were founded in 1959. Our mission at Coon Creek Watershed District is to manage groundwater and the surface water drainage system to prevent property damage, maintain hydrologic balance, protect water quality for the safety and enjoyment of citizens, and the preservation and enhancement of wildlife habitat.
