Curragh produces approximately 12.5 million tonnes of coal each year. Around 8.5 million tonnes of this is metallurgical coal, (with capacity to produce over 10 million tonnes). Curragh is one of the world's largest hard coking coal producers and supports steel-making industries across the globe. Domestically, Curragh helps to meet Australias energy needs through the supply of up to 3.5 million tonnes of steaming coal for local power generation to Stanwell Power Station. Located near Blackwater in Queenslands Bowen Basin, the Curragh mine is known for its complex geology, quality product, and the smooth running of its operations. This helps us attract quality people and produce well-rounded performers who know how to get things done. Curragh is owned by Coronado Coal LLC. Formed in 2011, Coronado Coal is a privately held portfolio company of The Energy & Minerals Group (EMG), a private equity group based in Texas, USA. Coronado Coal Group strives to provide its customers high-quality products while maintaining a strong focus on safety and the environment.
