Denver Food Rescue

Denver Food Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit committed to reducing food waste and increasing access to nutritious food with our Denver neighbors. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. We recover fresh, surplus food from 25+retailers including grocery stores, wholesalers, farmers markets, catering companies, etc. Our incredible team of volunteers deliver this bounty directly to one of our No Cost Grocery Program (NCGP) partners, often by e-bike! NCGPs are community-led grocery distributions which are located within communities with limited access to fresh, nutritious food. We aim to break down traditional barriers of the charitable food system, as the programs never require sign up or documentation like proof of income. Our direct and decentralized model enables us to focus our recovery work on perishable, nutrient-dense foods that are inaccessible in many Denver neighbors - in 2024, 58% of the food we recovered was fresh fruits and vegetables. 𝙒𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙨 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙨: 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻│ We are driven to mitigate the climate impacts of food waste while honoring environmental stewardship 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆│ We strive to ensure that all Denver residents have consistent access to nutritious, culturally meaningful food 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 │ We aim to dismantle systemic inequities around food access by centering the voices of communities affected 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲!
