Designer Microbes Inc (“DMI”) is a Biotechnology Company with the focus on creating custom microbial strains thru the use of rational design and/or directed evolution. DMI is located in London, Ontario, Canada at the Western University Research Park – The Stiller Centre. DMI was founded with the goal of developing innovative methods to enable the engineering of microbes, especially one that are not currently established as model systems. DMI team have a unique approach to genome engineering. We are using a multi-chassis system to perform in vivo gene deletions, additions and replacements. This approach was designed to take advantage of existing genetic tools developed for model organisms including Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
