Diakonhjemmet Hospital is responsible for general hospital services for approximately 135,000 inhabitants in Oslo. The Hospital specialises in the fields of rheumatology and rheumatic surgery. The Department of Psychopharmacology is a national centre of therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacogenetic analyses, and of research in psychopharmacology and biological psychiatry. Diakonhjemmet is majority owner of VID Specialized University. The universities academic focus is centred on Health,- Social,- and Church related programs on the bachelor, master and PhD levels, and supported by ongoing research in all fields. Diakonhjemmet Hospital Pharmacy is a pioneer and a referral Pharmacy in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Services. It is also well known for its Pharmaceutical Advisory Program for patients and Customers. Diakonhjemmet is developing Care as a new field of work, and owns Nordberghjemmet, Ammerudlunden, Sagenehjemmet AS – non profit nursing homes and Diakonhjemmet Home Care AS.
