Digital Xtra

Digital Xtra is the leading Scottish charity supporting extracurricular digital tech activities for young people across Scotland. We believe every young person should have access to fun, innovative, and meaningful tech activities regardless of their gender, background, or where they live as well as an understanding of the range of opportunities these skills provide. We finance and assist initiatives which engage and excite young people aged 16 and under with skills such as coding, robotics, games development, cyber, or data science. Supported initiatives must involve young people in activities that develop computational thinking rather than simply using or learning about technologies. Digital Xtra places a strong emphasis on promoting diversity and inclusion. We focus on areas of high deprivation, rural isolation, and groups underrepresented in the tech sector to help break down barriers at a grassroots level. This inclusive approach enriches the learning experiences for those involved as well as helping to build a more diverse and vibrant tech industry. Backed by industry, government, and individuals with a common will to help young people succeed in a digital world, we identify, fund, and support tech initiatives through an annual grant awards process. By providing small start-up or scale-up grants of up to £5,000 to digital tech initiatives, the Fund aims to: - Enable high-quality, exciting digital skills initiatives across Scotland - Inspire young people to understand, create, and innovate with technology, not simply use it - Engage industry with supported initiatives giving experts and young people opportunities to connect in informal and creative settings
