DigiTorc provides GDPR and data privacy services for businesses, charities and other organisations in Ireland. The EUs General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the enabling Irish 2018 Data Protection Act came into force on the 25th May 2018. The GDPR is a stringent new legal framework in the EU which has seen a doubling of complaints to the Irish Data Protection Commissioner compared to the same period in 2017. Businesses and organisations have effectively been on notice since the regulation was first published in May 2016. A two-year transition window was built-in to give businesses and organisations sufficient time to transform themselves and meet the required standards. Penalties for failing to comply with GDPR are severe up to 4% of annual global turnover or 20 million Euros, whichever is higher.
