Dimbleby Cancer Care provides practical and psychological support for people living with cancer, their families and carers. The charity was set up in 1966 in memory of renowned broadcaster Richard Dimbleby and is based at Guys Cancer Centre in London. Its mission is to raise money to continue its commitment to support and expand the Dimbleby Cancer Care Information and Support Services which includes a drop-in information service, Welfare Benefits advice, psychological support, complementary therapies and the provision of Dimbleby pillows for cancer patients, with information centres currently at Guys Cancer Centre and Queen Marys Sidcup. The charity has also launched www.cancercaremap.org a brand new online resource in 2018 to help people across the UK find care and support services nearest to them. In addition, the Dimbleby Cancer Care Research Fund awards up to £300,000 per year to research projects looking at all aspects of cancer care. www.dimblebycancercare.org. Dimbleby Cancer Care receives no government funding and relies solely on public donations and fundraising to continue its work. With more of us living longer with cancer we believe it is vital that cancer care is improved and made available universally through first class research.
