Durag Fest was founded in 2017 under its original moniker Durag March. The founders Joseph Headen and Asha David decided to change its name to Durag Fest in 2018. Giving it less of a political perception. Durag Fest is a festival that embraces modern black culture in a unique creative way. Our goal is to destroy all negative impressions associated with the headpiece by creating a movement that celebrates our uniqueness and creative nature. With its origins being planted in Raleigh, NC, Durag Fest plans to franchise off into different major city markets in the country.
