Eggborough is a coal-fired power station with a maximum output of 2000 megawatts. The power station is located on a 154 hectare site, 9 kilometres south of Selby in Yorkshire. The station is one of three similar plants along the Aire valley (Ferrybridge and Drax). Construction of the power station began in 1962 and it began supplying the national grid in 1967. The station was officially opened on 18th September 1970.
