El Dorado Transit has been providing service since 1975. Initially, service was provided for the elderly and disabled in the greater Placerville area. Public transit service became available to the general public in July 1980, with a combination of fixed-route deviation and demand-response services. LOCAL BUS ROUTES • Routes connecting the communites of Pollock Pines, Camino, Placerville, El Dorado, Diamond Springs, Cameron Park, Shingle Springs and Grizzly Flat. DIAL-A-RIDE • Curb-to-curb service. These trips for seniors and disabled persons are reserved in-advance. Many times trips are grouped together provide as many trips as possible. Fares vary. SAC-MED • Two days a week SAC-MED buses pick up passengers at various park and ride lots and drive to medical-related appointments in Sacramento County. There is a fare of $10.00 one-way. COMMUTER SERVICE • Commuter routes run Monday through Friday from El Dorado County into downtown Sacramento corridor. Starting at the Placerville Station Park and Ride lot on Mosquito Road commuter routes pick up passengers at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, Central Transit facility, Ponderosa exit/Wild Chaparral Park and Ride, Cambridge Park and Ride, Rodeo Road stop and the El Dorado Hills Park and Ride lot.
