enabling enterprise

Enabling Enterprise is a not-for-profit company, set up by a team of teachers in 2009. Our mission is to equip young people with the skills, aspirations and experiences they need to succeed in life. We worked with over 30,000 children last year. Our enterprise education programmes help teachers by integrating skills development into different areas of the curriculum for KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5. So, to help history lessons come alive, students create and carry out a campaign on a local issue; in French, they set up a business with an international flavour; in Maths, they design a new sport for the Olympics. All the while, developing skills that are subject-specific like using as shape work and modelling to design an Olympic arena and enterprising like working in teams, turning ideas into plans, giving presentations and communicating effectively. Enabling Enterprise students also participate in termly events with leading companies including PwC, UBS, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, Oliver Wyman management consultancy, and even Hamleys. Were delighted to have their support and involvement in our programmes. Were also pleased to receive support from the Young Foundation, UnLtd, education charity Edge. Our director Tom Ravenscroft has been recognised with two national teaching awards in 2009 and as one of the top 10 young social entrepreneurs in the UK in 2010. In 2012, Enabling Enterprise won the Santander Social Enterprise Award for its category.
