The Energy Academy is a project that will explore the use of immersive experiences for users to learn the most fundamental concepts and connections in safeguarding planet Earth. The sun-to-planet energy flow, a human changed climate, photosynthesis, carbon sequestration and renewables are part of its core curricula. We believe achieving sustainability requires a collective planetary consciousness. Our climate and energy challenge requires a population that understands the close and delicate connections between the macro and micro levels, from the solar system down to cellular and molecular structures. The Academy is the first software prototype of a newborn social innovation lab. Open will initiate projects that harness collective networks for exponential social and environmental impact. By partnering with leading universities, institutes and NGOs, we want to build knowledge networks to bring cutting-edge science and innovation to broad audiences in accesible formats. In 2017 we will be working on our first proof-of-concept prototype. We are building our team and establishing partnerships for our first big step.
