eoba seeks to empower youth to be well-rounded champions for wellness at home, at school, and in their communities.
east oakland boxing association (eoba) is a free after-school and summer youth development program for local youth ages 5-20. our programs foster diversity, experiential, and hands-on learning in a safe, engaging environment. eoba focuses on building self-esteem through youth development activities that link academic support with mentoring, art, nutrition education, gardening, community service, field trips, and physical education. the site also hosts an organic teaching garden that focuses on preparing teens for success through exploration of youth-run small business models that integrate creativity, cooperative learning, internship opportunities, career and college readiness, green jobs training, life skills, goal development, and community service.
