Fountain Initiative for Social Development (FISD) is a privately-funded social enterprise. It is one of the largest social enterprise investment organisations in Nigeria, operating as a 21st century world-class organisation and instigating, developing and delivering products and services to address the social needs of underserved and under-privileged communities across Nigeria. FISD operates in a particularly tough and challenging economic environment. Nigeria has a high and rising unemployment (particularly amongst the youth population), an educational system suffering from deteriorating quality and insufficient investment to keep pace with the burgeoning school-age population, a population where 65% (110m) live below $1.25 per day and a society where for decades, implementation of numerous social development programmes and initiatives have done little to improve the lives of majority of Nigerians. Vision FISDs Vision is of communities in Nigeria with educated, socio- economically developed and skilled populations that will contribute to the overall wellbeing of the country. Mission FISDs Mission is to generate collaborative action and learning to improve access to services in the education sector, provide vocational training and enhance employability and entrepreneurial skills of youths and adults. Objectives Establishment of a platform of enlightenment and awareness where the societies and youth, will benefit and transform their minds To organise national seminars, workshops and conferences focusing on imparting knowledge and skills for a better future for Nigerian societies and Youths To undertake enlightenment and create awareness in Nigeria To disseminate ideas, information and improve reasoning faculties of the masses as to issues in Nigeria and solutions to it To make such monetary, other donations and contributions as the Trustees/Directors deem fit to any organisation and/or program engaged in any of the activities mentioned herein above
