Most medical diagnostics that test for things in blood cannot actually work with whole blood directly, but require the blood to be spun in a centrifuge to obtain plasma, then a precise volume of plasma is measured and added to a diagnostic kit. GattaCo has developed the first easy to use, disposable, fully automatic and rapid centrifuge replacement tool, the Sípon. The Sípon eliminates the current dependence on phlebotomists, vacutainers, centrifuges and lab techs needed for performing even simple blood-based diagnostic testing.
