GeoSUN offers a variety of services relating to the utility scale solar energy industry. Supporting services to solar developers of large solar (PV, CPV and CSP) plants makes up a large part of GeoSUN’s operations. GeoSUN has a history of experience with on-site solar resource measurements including albedo assessments. Other services include the supply of custom SCADA weather stations for solar plants under construction, calibration of solar (pyranometers and pyrheliometers) and meteorological instruments (on site or in the lab), the inspection and accredited testing of PV modules (on site or in the lab) as well as drone inspections. GeoSUN was launched in 2012 and is a spin-off company of the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies (CRSES) at the University of Stellenbosch.
