Glen Echo Fire Department

Glen Echo Fire Department is a community firehouse in Bethesda, MD. Our primary response area is bounded by River Road to the northeast, DC to the southeast, the Potomac River to the southwest, and Wilson Lane to the northwest. Our ambulance may also be the primary ambulance responding to Friendship Heights, depending on the time of day. We are a volunteer-owned and -operated station with joint staffing between volunteers and career FF/EMTs from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. Our station is home to four frontline response units: an engine, an ambulance, a paramedic chase unit, and a UTV for off-road rescues. Volunteer and career FF/EMTs often staff units and train together. We have a small live-in program with a double occupancy live-in room. We host and support a variety of community events throughout the year, including 4th of July and Halloween parades, “Santa Runs,” the Washington Folk Festival, and our annual Open House.
