GLOBAL ORPHAN RELIEF

Global Orphan Relief (GO!) began the work of serving orphaned children in 2005 when founded by Scott and Despina Nordstrom. Our first opportunity to serve came through a partnership with Orphan’s Hope that year to provide Bibles and Blankets to orphans in Myanmar. We filed the necessary paperwork to the IRS in 2005, and received notification of our 501(c)(3) status in March 2006. Over the years we have been honored to serve orphaned children in DR Congo, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar, Pakistan, South Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia. In December of 2005, the Nordstrom family visited an orphanage in Juarez, Mexico, and blessed 20 children with Christmas. This was our first international mission effort with feet on the ground In February of 2006, Scott Nordstrom and Rick Vigil deployed to Zambia to determine how we might serve children in this country. Scott has since returned nine times to Zambia with many teams over the years. In December of 2006, we deployed our 3rd team to Mexico to serve orphans in Juarez. Since 2005 we have deployed 21 Relief Teams; 144 volunteers; and delivered 4+ tons of supplies to DR Congo, Mexico, Myanmar, Uganda, and Zambia. As of September 2017, we serve 688 orphaned children in DR Congo, South Sudan, and Zambia, by providing care in orphanage-based settings, foster care, scholarships, and nutrition programs.
