The Guth Gafa International Documentary Film Festival is Irelands most Northerly annual film festival, taking place in Headfort House in Kells, Co. Meath, Ireland. For one weekend Headfort House is turned into an intimate but intense melting pot of documentary film, lively debate and exceptional entertainment. A festival like no other, Guth Gafa offers film makers and film lovers alike state of the art cinemas, outdoor screenings and bean bag cinemas, workshops, music, entertainment and wonderful food and wine in the Donegal sunshine. Guth Gafa Teoranta/Ltd was formed in late 2006 to oversee the development of the annual Guth Gafa Festival, originally based in Gort an Choirce in the Donegal Gaeltacht. The first Guth Gafa festival held in May 2006 operated under the umbrella of local film production company, Soilsiú Films Ltd. The aims and objectives of the festival are to bring to Donegal, documentary films made to the highest international standards, including Irish films; to promote the documentary film industry in Ireland by developing a festival that is of an international standard; to attract internationally renowned film directors to Ireland and to introduce them to a national and local audience.
