Hoa Sen University is located in the center of dynamic HoChiMinh city, the commercial heart of Vietnam. The university was founded in 1991, during a period of economic and social transition as Vietnam began the process of integrating with the global economy. Technical training was quickly identified as a particular need at that time. Building on its mission and philosophy of educational excellence , the institution was granted college status in the late 1990s. and in 2006 gained full university status Four departments were created offering programs in vocational technician training, junior college, bachelor of arts/science and post graduate degrees. These are: Polytechnic, Economics and Commerce, Science and Technology, Languages and Cultural Studies. The focus of the university has been on preparing students for employment in Vietnam’s expanding and rapidly changing economy. The aim is that after graduation students will be better able to become employed, maintain their job performance, further improve themselves, and be capable of performing in the wider global work force. The educational methodology is student-centered with an underlying philosophy of “committed to excellent”. Hoa Sen University has concentrated on developing its teaching staff and its educational programs with a focus on international cooperation. Its Vietnamese lecturers are mainly trained overseas and many of our lecturers are from foreign countries. The training programs are designed towards sharing with and relating to the developed countries of the world. The university’s system of training credits has been established which follows a North American format in order to encourage and motivate students to higher levels of attainment.
