HSE East Africa places special focus on the oil and gas and energy projects in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Rwanda and Ethiopia with emphasis on the impact of these projects on the people in this region. Health and safety has, for too long and by too many, been seen simply as unnecessary paperwork. In other cases it's been an afterthought, with budget concerns and building aesthetics ranking above worker safety in the design stages of projects. The impact on the environment resulting from the numerous infrastructure projects as well as industrial activities within the region have at times been ignored leading to undue exposure of the population to harm. HSE East Africa seeks to change attitudes towards workplace safety, highlight potential threats to the environment and educate on laws, policies and best practice.
